Author Guidelines

Sangia Nibandera Law Research welcomes high-quality scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the development of legal studies at national and international levels. Authors are expected to follow the guidelines below to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to the journal’s editorial standards.

Scope and Focus

Manuscripts submitted must fall within the journal’s scope, including but not limited to:

  • Constitutional Law and Administrative Law
  • Criminal Law and Criminal Justice
  • Civil Law and Private Law
  • International Law and Transnational Legal Studies
  • Environmental and Natural Resources Law
  • Human Rights Law
  • Legal Theory and Socio-Legal Studies
  • Indigenous and Customary Law
  • Law, Governance, and Public Policy

Submissions must demonstrate originality, relevance, and scholarly contribution.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts the following types of contributions:

  • Research Articles (empirical or doctrinal studies)
  • Review Articles (critical literature reviews)
  • Editorial Commentary (legal perspectives on current issues)
  • Notes (short analytical or case-based writings)
  • Book Reviews (critical evaluation of scholarly books)

Language

Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian. Authors are encouraged to use clear, academic, and formal language. The journal may request language editing if necessary.

Manuscript Structure

Research articles should generally include:

  • Title (concise and informative)
  • Author(s) name and affiliation
  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Keywords (3–6 terms)
  • Introduction
  • Research Methodology
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References

Other manuscript types may follow flexible structures as appropriate.

Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Cambria, 12 pt
  • Spacing: 1
  • Paper size: A4
  • Margin: 2.5 cm (all sides)
  • Citation style: Chicago Manual Style 17th edition (fullnote)
  • Word count: 6,000–10,000 words (not included references)

Submission Requirements

Authors must submit:

  • Manuscript in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx)
  • Author details (full name, affiliation, email, ORCID)
  • Abstract and keywords
  • Declaration of originality

All submissions must be made through the journal’s online submission system.

Originality and Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts will be checked using plagiarism detection software. The similarity index must not exceed 20%, excluding references and properly cited material. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and unethical citation practices are strictly prohibited.

Ethical Standards

Authors must comply with publication ethics based on international standards, including those established by the Committee on Publication Ethics. Authors are responsible for ensuring originality, proper citation, and research integrity.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.

The editorial decision may include:

  • Accept
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Reject

Publication Frequency and Timeline

The journal is published biannually:

  • June Issue: submission deadline in February
  • December Issue: submission deadline in August

Late submissions may be considered for the next issue.

Open Access and Copyright

All published articles are open access under the Creative Commons. Authors retain copyright while granting the journal publishing rights.

Publication Fee

The journal does not charge any Article Processing Charges (No APC) for submission, review, or publication.

Generative AI Policy

Authors must disclose any use of Generative AI tools. AI tools cannot be listed as authors and may only be used for language editing or technical assistance, not for generating core academic content.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submission, authors must ensure:

  • Manuscript follows journal formatting
  • References are complete and consistent
  • Similarity index is within acceptable limit
  • Ethical and originality declarations are included
  • Author information is complete
